For ten years old friends have fallen,
Scattered over the four seas.
Only two, sick in body, remain,
Each unlucky, their tragic paths
Blocked by fate, yet reconciled,
And from what cause?
As age advances, my sight lessens.
I hate the long nights;
My body awaits the warmth,
As I hope, from an early spring.
If you'll join me at New Joy Hall,
Beside the old pond, I'll need no further pleasures.
